Sober Days ("the app", "we", "us") is built privacy-first. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you use the app and the soberdaysapp.com website.
The short version
Everything you track in Sober Days - your check-ins, your days, your mood entries, your journal, your garden, and your settings - stays on your device. We do not run servers that receive it, we do not have an account that holds it, and we never sell it or use it for advertising. If this is all you read, you have the gist.
Information we do not collect
Sober Days does not ask you to create an account, and we do not operate servers that store your personal information. We do not collect your name, your email address, your location, your contacts, or the content of anything you record in the app. Because your data never leaves your device, we have no copy of it to share, lose, or sell.
Information stored on your device
The app saves the information you enter so it can do its job: your sobriety start date, your daily check-ins, your reasons for stopping, your spending estimates, your mood and journal entries, your badges, your garden, and your preferences. This information is stored locally on your device by the operating system. It is only accessible from the app on that device, and it is removed when you delete the app.
Purchases and subscriptions
The core of Sober Days is free. If you choose to buy an optional Premium subscription, the payment is processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play - we never see or handle your card details. We use RevenueCat to verify and manage subscription status. RevenueCat assigns a random, anonymous identifier to your installation so the app can confirm whether Premium is active; it does not receive your name, your email, or anything you track in the app.
Notifications
Daily reminders and milestone celebrations are scheduled locally on your device by the operating system. They are not sent from a server, they are generated from data that stays on your device, and we have no way of knowing whether or when you receive or open them. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings or in the app.
Analytics and advertising
We do not use analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, or third-party trackers. The app does not show ads. We do not build a profile of you, and there is no "improve the product with your data" clause hiding in here.
Your control over your data
Because your data lives on your device, you are always in control of it:
- Export - you can export your data to a file from the app's settings at any time.
- Reset - you can erase all of your data from within the app.
- Uninstall - deleting the app removes the data it stored on your device.
Children's privacy
Sober Days is intended for adults and relates to alcohol. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age required to use the app in their country.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of providers to deliver the app. Their handling of any information is governed by their own privacy policies:
- Apple App Store and Google Play - app distribution and payment processing.
- RevenueCat - anonymous subscription status management.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Because the app stores nothing on our side, changes here will never retroactively expose data we already chose not to collect.
